Marine Cenotes Snorkeling in Cancún
What you'll see
The Yucatán peninsula is limestone, riddled with freshwater channels that drain toward the sea. Where those channels surface offshore you get marine cenotes: cool fresh water meeting warm salt water.
It is the third stop of the trip, and the meeting of the two waters is the reason to stop there — a phenomenon particular to this stretch of coastline.

Is this the same as an inland cenote?
No. Inland cenotes are freshwater sinkholes you enter from land. These are offshore, reached by boat, where the freshwater surfaces into the sea.
Is the water colder here?
Fresh water arrives cooler than the surrounding sea, so you may feel the difference as you pass through it.
